I'm impressed with how well Trail Boss works in my 45Colt and 45ACP loads...
Wondering if anybody has any tips on loads for my collection of 455 Webley revolvers using the usual 260Gr hollowbase bullets, or even a 260Gr Keith semi-wadcutter.
As a reach, I also have a 450Revolver antique 'snubby', that I have one box of Fiocchi factory loads...after that, I'll have to come up with my own....
Any suggestions or leads are appreciated.

Id start with 3.5 Grs of TB in the long Solid head Domion 455 Case.
Like New condition Solid head cases....;)

I have shot 5.3 grs of TB in 45 Schofield cases in and old Antique Webley Number 4 Pryse.
Used a .454 Keith SWC
that pryse had the cylinder shaved at the back so it would Cycle 45 Schofield cases as there rims are thicker.
That gun handled that load no Problem.
Was accurate to.
Id start at 3.5 gr and work up a few grs till ya find and accurate load.
Once ya get up in the Higher TB Loads the presure Curve is higher than Unique.
Thats why the max load for the 45 Colt is like 6 Grs but i shot 6.5.
I now shoot just 6 tho as its just as accurate and not as hard on my guns.
So keep it on the low side. 5.3 was comforatable in that pryse but any higher would be pushing things + it was a Brand new Starline Solid head 45 Schofield case.
Always use the best Brass you can find.

Dingus, thanks for the info...
I have a stash of new Hornady Webley MKII cases so it would be going into all new brass.
The loading info that came with my Lee dies shows that Unique is also indicated...it shows a starting load of 3.9 grains, which I'm going to try using a .454", 265Gr. Keith bullet, as well as some 265 Gr. Webley hollow base bullets at 4.0 Gr.
I'm also going to try 4.5Gr. of Unique in a 45ACP case, with a .454" Keith SWC in my MKIII with the shaved cylinder....

I would avoid using Promo in old guns as there may be very unexpected pressure variations. It is a very fast powder and not designed for lightly loaded handgun cartridges.

A month ago I posted a really eye opening article of how pressures generated by the exact same load of Unique powder changed wildly depending on where in the case the powder was sitting.

Trail Boss is designed so it is not position sensitive in a partially filled case making it a safer, more reliable powder for older guns.
