trail boss loads

Not that this helps, but I just bought some and am excited to load some with it. I hear it has an unusual shape to help bulk up the volume. Great innovation.

I have some load info I got from IMR, some on rifle loads and some for handgun cartridges;

For calibers not listed, a shooting buddy that passed away a short while back hs4570, had a system that seemed to work. He'd take the case capacity, minus the space taken up by the bullet, and start out testing with a load of 50% of that. Between that 50% and 65% is where he found the best accuracy.

I took a 45 S&W case, scouped it half full of trail boss and weighed it. 5.5 grains!! You'd have a hard time missing a double charge of this powder.

trail boss.. gotta love it.. a tiny bit goes a long way and its so big in size that you dont need any case fillers.
here is some info from what i got out of my 45-70 marlin GG 18' barrel.
hornaday 350grain flat point

14 grain ~ 985fps
14.5 grain ~ 1010fps

405 grain hard cast bullet
12.5 grain ~ 970 fps
13 grain ~ 1000fps

these results are in my gun you mileage my very.
these loads are extremely soft, sounds and feels like a 22 just the holes on the target are bigger.

i just shot 100 rounds of the trail boss load today and could probably shoot it all day long with no ill effect to my shoulder.

enjoy
