Training outside Canada

Depends where you go the US companies that train US military or Law Enforcement usually will not train non citizens. Front Sight in Parhump Nevada will still train you. South Africa and Europe still should.

I did some basic ones in AZ....i really was interested in Reid Hienrchs @ Valour Ridge, but like buddy said above it is a no go. Right on his website he says he can't due to ITAR.

A guy I know is leaving in October for a 5 week body guard course in Texas.....its boot camp style with hand to hand combat and gun training......the while 9 yards.....he did have to get approval from somewhere but I dont remember exactly.....will update when i talk to him next

I contacted a range in Montana to attend a Winterseed (winter Appleseed). I was told that due to ITAR they can only provide training to U.S. citizens. He did mention they aren't checking ID.

Lol I'm glad he mentioned they ARENT checking ID......Haha this itar is a joke......its even comes into play when it involves "training" ? ..........ummmmmmmmmm

As mentioned above, Front Sight in Nevada will train Canadians. I've been to 3 of their courses along with my wife.
If you're interested in going, contact me and I can save you a lot of money off the advertised price on their website as I'm a life time member with special access.

Anyone do any weapon courses outside Canada? And if so is there a restriction on Canadians going on these courses?

Some courses are open, some are restricted-enrollment. Some courses require an export permit (from the U.S. Department of State), some don't.

If you need a permit, it'll cost extra (~US$250. - $300.) and it might take time (~months), so you'll want to talk to the school and plan ahead.

Here are a few examples:

I was at the SIG ACADEMY in New Hampshire last Sept , it is NOT SIG specific and has tons of different courses. Fantastic full time training academy. You fill out the paperwork with them and they do a background check on you, I brought my own firearm so I also had to have paperwork in order to cross the border (Form 6 ), very easy process.
