Used to be trajectory info on cartridge boxes but no more. Also recall seeing info on estimating range by size of amimal in scope at various powers. Anybody got references? Reason - Missed bull at long range. Will post detal of SNAFU on Hunting subforum.

The solution is easy buy a laser range finder, and a chronograph, plug the chrono data into a ballistics software program, and use the RF in the feild. But of course if you don't go to the range lots and practice 300yd. + shots lots your not likely to hit anything anyways.

An even better solution is to buy the laser rangefinder and then shoot your rifle at 100 yards,200 yards,300,yards,350 yards,400 yards,450 yards and 500 yards and see the actual points of impact at those distances rather than calculationg the theoretical points of impact. Then practise at those distances until you can consistantly place your bullets at those distances.

Sound advise. When I was a teen, we shot centerfires a lot. I'm talking a couple hundred .303 British or .30-30 Win. at a time (cheaper by the case) and out to completely ridiculous ranges  Hey, but we did hit deer size rocks/stumps accoss canyons and clearcuts with regularity and anything within 300 yards was a goner or you suffered unrelenting ridicule :D Unfortunately, too many nowadays want an easier way out :( They try long range pokes and the result is often wounding and lost animals  The guys that only buy a box of shells a year to sight in and hunt with, have no business taking a shot at any animal past 150 paces. And if said critter is moving, don't even bother to pull the trigger, IMHO
