Yes I know this is a old thread I'm bring up. But I still have questions.
Today I just completed my first transfer of a restricted through a private sale. My LTATT was approved yesterday, and the the pistol that I purchassed through a dealer last month (5/30/2008) was shipped this morning (they was waiting for the ATT).
I've read the sticky here (Entire restricted firearm process and waiting periods). And just so I understand this correctly, I'm posting here. I'm not concerned with getting shafted, the seller is from CGN, and has a good rep. It's a matter of understanding what I need to do as the buyer, and what I should expect in regards to time for things to be completed.
Here's what's happened so far.
I've paid for the pistol. The seller started the transfer and gave me the transfer number. I called the CFC and completed (my part) of the transfer. And this is where I get hung up...
The transfer doesn't get processed right away (or so I've read)... The seller is in ON, and I'm in the Yukon (use's BC's CFO). What is a realistic time frame for the transfer to be completed? Naturally the transfer has to be completed, prior to the seller shippng the gun.
Once the seller confirms that the transfer has been completed (I take it he either has to call every few days/weeks, or gets something in the mail), and has shipped the gun, then what?
I already have an LTATT, but this gun isn't on it (I'm assuming - as I haven't applied yet - it would be too simple for this to be automatically added to my ATT). I'm assuming that I have to contact the CFC/CFO to apply for an LTATT for this firearm. My understanding, is that they will just add it to my file.
Once I've applied for my ATT and it's been approved, then I can take the pistol that was received to the range to test - correct?
I'm asuming that I can't be the first Newbie that has these questions
