So I bought a 9mm from the EE (great transaction by the way) and the seller and buyer part of the transfer are complete. When I phone for a status update I am told it's "with the province". Is there a number I should be calling to help speed the process up ??

Thx.

Not really, it's a normal re-checking process by the CFO's office.

Actually calling them might delay the process even more, because they'll get annoyed and put your transfer application at the bottom of the pile :D

Call your MPP and tell him that citizens in Ontario have the right to expect the same level of service which is enjoyed in other provinces.Ontario is exceptionally slow.
I just had a transfer completed in 4 weeks. I had one last summer that stretched out to 6 weeks.

thats BS, i always call the CFO directly for restricted gun transfers, just to "make sure they have everything in hand and to know if i can do anything to make their job easier".

I get all my stuff in the mail 2-3 days later. Max.

And i'm in Quebec.

Funny how being polite and accomodating can go a long way. I guess not everyone gets that...

Umm no... it won't slow it down.. but it can speed it up.. and if they continue to drag their ass on it file a formal complaint with their bosses at the ministry of public safety... the OPP, via the ombudsman and via your MPP :)

It totally speeds things up. Last time i called, the girl was like i dunno why its not approved yet, ok its approved now. Trust me it can speed things up. I sold to a guy in Sask and he did the same, transfer was done same day gun was sold.

Hey, any tips on lighting fires under asses appreciated...

.

Call and politely request the status... when they said it is waiting ask why. When they tell you it's in the system you ask why it needs to wait. I have already gone through the very long process to get an RPAL.. and have already been vetted. Therefore what is the point of having done that if you need to again wait for their approval and why does that take so long?
Press them on it.. and as they drag their feet start with official complaints to their bosses... and via the ombudsman and your MPP. Since there is no reason at all for any such delays.

Should the phone calls go to the CFC 1-800 number, or should I be calling the Ontario CFO directly. If it's the CFO - does anyone happen to have the number to call?
