Seems like there are alot of informed and helpful people on here that are more than willing to give their opinion and state the facts. I would really appreciate both!

My grandfather told me he wants to give me some firearms and said I need to get my my non and res. licence. So I've taken the courses, passed the exams and mailed in my application.

My question is what steps must I take next? while waiting, in order to transfer approx 20 firearms from his possesion in B.C to me in Alberta?

Yes, I plan on using the restricted's at local ranges in Edmonton. I would like to have all my ducks in a row.... no pun intended! All advise will be greatly appreciated!

Firstly you might as well join a club because you will need that before the CFO will approve the transfer (for restricted). Then you will need to wait for your licence to do the transfer. Your grandfather will have to initiate the transfer with the CFC and then they will contact you for your info. They will then issue you a temp ATT to transport the restricteds from BC to Alberta and issue a LT ATT for the restricteds to your range.

Thanks for your reply! O.K so I do have to join a club. What if the club I join uses multiple ranges? will my LTATT be good for all those ranges?

Yes. Your LTATT in Alberta will state: Approved to transport to all approved ranges in Alberta, gunsmiths, and border crossings.
