hey guys i have just emt'ed some money to a cgn'er who has a good trader rating for a handgun. Whats next? does he have to call the CFC and tell them to transfer ownership to my name? I have never bought a restricted from a private seller so Im wondering what Im in for. I tried looking it up on the CFC website but the info is kinda vague.

Give him your RPAL #, address and phone #. He'll call and get a reference # and give it to you. Then it's your turn to call with said reference number, so they can confirm that he's selling to you. When they complete the transfer they'll call him, and ship.

When the seller receives your EMT, he will call his CFO and initiate a transfer. CFO will need your PAL#, name and address (and birthdate maybe), and the same info from the seller.

Seller should mail the firearm to you once the CFO approves the transfer. That can vary by province.

Seller should also ship it so it has a tracking number and signature required. If you paid him extra for insurance, then that should be added too.

It's simple you just phone into the CFO with the reference number after he initiates the transfer, give them your info and wait. I just did it this week in BC and it took under 3 days for them to complete the transfer. They will ask if you are picking it up or if it's being mailed to you, if you are picking it up you will need to phone the CFO and get a STATT to take it home.
