Hey guys, excuse me if I put the post in the wrong forum.
How long does it take transfer a ownership of pistol from Ontario to Quebec? I know within Ontario, it is about 1 month.

Thanks in advance.

Transfers times aren't based on individual Provinces. It usually depends on how lazy/busy the CFO happens to be. I've never seen it take a month, thank god!

Generally...

Retailers - Up to a week.
Personal - 2 to 3 days sometimes up to a week - CFO can be persuaded by fax to complete the transfer.
Dealers with online access - A couple of hours.

Wow, Handofzeus, That was fast, it took me the whole month. I believe because I am a collector, so I do not have club membership?

As a "collector" you open yourself to "random" inspections. You were probably better off applying as a target shooter with the "intent" of joining a club.

I've had two transfers approved using this method without a club membership.

CFO is busy right now. I had 3 transfers done before March within 3 days and in March had to wait for a week.

been waiting almost 3 weeks for a restricted i bought from a fellow cgn'r in BC. Crazy:mad:

That's ridiculous!

Ask the forum member to send a fax and get the transfer completed. If he provides his e-mail address they'll usually send the paperwork as an attachment via e-mail.

The transfer is completed, just waiting for the approval letter from the CFO. A little frustrating, but i guess they are just busy.

That's what I'm talking about!

I got my last approval/transfer paperwork sent to me via e-mail. You can also ask them to fax. Both options are much faster than snail mail.

As a "collector", police will come to the house inspecting your storage randomly??

A firearms officer...

If the CFO tells you the transfer is approved all you need is an short term att e-mailed to you and you're good to go. Otherwise you'll be waiting for that letter for another two weeks. All you need is your CFO's verbal OK and STATT.

Also, my transfer took two days. (Sorry, just had to say it)

:D:DCheers!:D:D
