Transfer times in Alberta

When I called in, the lady asked for my PAL number and a few other questions to confirm my identity and took it from there. She did not need the reference numbers since they appear to already be in the system. Put me on hold for a couple of minutes and then told me everything was now going ahead and approvals would be coming in a few days. First came on Monday this week.

Got another one today. Ref # 6022###, initiated 6 September. Nothing on an earlier purchase from 5 August, so they do not appear to be doing the approvals strictly by number sequence. More likely, as speculated previously, they each have a stack and are working through them.
Good work in any case since those stacks must be huge.

My August ones must be on the same desk as your Aug 5 one, that drone is a serious slacker :p.

Waiting since August

A friend of mine bought a pistol at Phoenix gun shop in Edmonton and has been waiting since August for the transfer to be complete. Is anyone else from Alberta having the same issue ?

thanks

Absolutely just call the number.

I called, got through first call (25 min wait on hold first) and approved 2 right away. Called again next business day (25 min hold) and got through and approved the last 3 outstanding.

I procrastinated for 6 weeks on calling because I was working and didn’t realize it would be a 4 month wait. But I called at noon/lunch time and was through and completed before end of lunch. The didn’t even ask questions. Just gave my info. Put me on hold. Came back and said processed. Had emails before I hung up.

My friend is still waiting, bought the pistol on 11 Aug, then got the email from Phoenix gun shop on 11 Nov that everything was gtg and that he would get an email from the CFO shortly. He is still waiting.

She then told me that she could send 2 transfers to "the office" for "final review". I guess that's the same thing Craig0ry is talking about. She wouldn't approve them immediately but said it would happen within a few days now.

So some interesting notes to add.

I made the above call Nov. 4. The first one finally got through "final review" last week and I got a transfer notice.

The second one I heard nothing. So yesterday I went to the CFP individual web services to check my listed registrations and it was there. I called the CFP today (got through on the first call and waited not much more than 5 minutes on hold). The lady said the transfer was completed Nov. 18 and an email was sent. Clearly it was lost somewhere. She re-sent the notice.

While I had her on the phone I asked what she could do about my last transfers. She processed one right away, but again one had to be sent for "final review". The difference was status, one was restricted, the other is a 12(6) prohib. Apparently prohibited guns are getting an extra step now.

For the 2 transfers moved along by my call on Nov. 4, again one was restricted, one prohibited. The one that got stuck due to no transfer notice was the prohib.
