I recently purchased a handgun and need to take it home. I have the att, trigger lock now my question is about the container.

Is the container that the gun comes in good enough for transport or do i need something with a lock on it?

thanks

It usually is as long as it is lockable and you can't see through it, and also that your gun is trigger locked and unloaded. Also remember to have your PAL, registration paper, and ATT on hand (just in case you cet stopped).

Congratulations on your purchase!

Lockable is in a key/ combination?

Be aware that "in the box/container that it came in" the handgun isn't always trigger-locked. In one case I received, the trigger lock was included in a plastic bag as a courtesy but was NOT on the trigger guard.
So, better double-check.

Question that came up with myself and a friend.

When going from the home to the range is it within the rules to transfer multiple firearms in one case? For example if want to take out my handgun and rifle (providing they are both secured in the proper manner) can they be transported in the same case?

Thanks

Yes. But with non-restricted and restricted in the same case you need to treat it as if there are only restricted firearms in the case, so no opening the case between home and your gun club.

And of course, you need not trigger lock, nor transport the non-restricted long gun in any container. It may travel in plain sight, or not, as you may wish. Of course, if you stop for fuel, and go inside to pay for the fuel, the long gun must be out of sight - i.e. in an opaque case, or covered, and the vehicle locked.

Many folks somehow that they are going "above and beyond" when they both trigger lock and lock the long gun container, but in fact, all they are doing is fueling the anti sentiment that all guns are evil. Thieves are evil. Gun owners are stand up folks, and their guns are essential tools of a civilized society.

I totally agree. You don't get bonus points for going above and beyond. Know the law and follow it, but no more. It drives me nuts to see rifles and shotguns with trigger locks on them.
