Transporting Air Rifle to Range?

I'm purchasing an air rifle soon ( a 'no-PAL required' variant) and am wracking my brain to figure out how to get it down to the range, which is about a forty minute drive from my house. Problem is, I only have my learners license and cannot drive myself there. According to BC transit the air rifle is classified as a firearm, so the bus is out of the question. If the rifle is cased in a nondescript black storage device could I bike with it without fear of incarceration/confiscation?
I live on Vancouver Island, BC, near the jubilee hospital, and any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.

(also, does anyone know if the BC transit woman I communicated with was right? Do I have any sort of rights that would allow me to bring the air rifle on the bus?)

Just take it on the bus in a black case and if anyone asks its either none of their business or its a guitar.

Looking like thats the only option, I really don't trust any kind of bike harness bulls**t to hold anything important.
Hm... could modify one of my guitar cases to hold air rifle, though I'm sure the average person can't tell the difference between a guitar case and a gun case.
If they can't separate a glock from a nerf gun and an M16 from an AK47 I don't see how they'll figure this one out on their own ;)

Yes but when in doubt they just arrest and charge you with the vaguest thing there is in the book......it's up to you to figure it out now isn't it ?

Under 500FPS it's not a firearm so just stick in a bag that fits and go about your merry way. Just in case have the booklet that came with it (if you have it) just to show any inquiring LEO that it is under 500FPS and maybe your Wally World receipt for it..;)

Dragon's Den here we come.............
Golf club head that fits over the end of your gun barrel?????
Put on a cute little happy face toque cover and you're all set to go.
Now this is just charming......;)

I wouldn't even bother going to the range. Just shoot in your house. Into a solid bullet trap/backstop of course.

Sorry, I neglected to mention that being sixteen, I still live with my parents.
Parents who happen to share Mark Holland's view on a certain subject regarding Canadian firearms ownership.Parents who view air rifles as real guns that should be burned in the fiery depths of hell.
Anyhow though, I think I'll probably just use a rifle case/golf bag and carry the rifle's manual and receipt as if they were my ATT/RPAL.
BC Transit says that weapons are not allowed on the bus, but I wrote a long strongly worded letter that let the woman who contacted me know that a firearm, let alone a pellet gun, is not a weapon unless used like one. (Strongly worded, but still very polite!)
Thanks for all the help,
Cheers

The golf look is ok - but to be more age appropriate (16yrs old)dress like a hipster and carry a guitar case that goes on your back. Soft case is gooder since it will be easier to carry when the bus is crowded. To polish the look have a set of earphones on you so nobody will bug you for guitar lessons.

This "outfit" will make you hide more in plain site and beside golf bags are ### when you are not even a golfer.

PS - as a hipster in disguise never uses the word "cool" say instead "deck"

Ps NEVER look like these hipsters on a bus:

this is more like normal:

Except the fact that Supreme Court of Canada decided that such transport is a concealed carry and subject to Criminal prosecution.... politically motivated appointments are not harmless ;)

 Awesome idea!!
Just make sure you don't make any hipster friends while being disguised as one:puke:

Undercover !!! How cool is that ! ? !!

Standard, square, non-descript guitar case. Solved.

I think I have one of those lying around somewhere.

However, after reviewing all your comments I've come to the conclusion I need the ultimate in concealment and firepower....
the GUITAR GUN.
Fits perfectly inside a guitar case, can function as a guitar, and shoots at whatever speed you happen to be strumming at. Playing different genres effects calibre.
In all seriousness though I'll just use a square case, its nobody's damn business what's in the case and the 72 bus I take to get to the range only ever has a few people on it.

:D
I couldn't talk to anyone, the topic would inevitably turn to guns and my cover would be blown.
I much prefer your idea to dressing up as a golfer, which would be more emotionally damaging than words can express. Not hating on golf, but here is my personal definition of it: Golf: A sport engaged in by people who are not fishing. Fishing: A sport engaged in by people who are not hunting.

Sounds like you may have a new home right here.....

Seriously, good on you for wanting to do things properly and especially for having an unsterstanding of the (unfortunate) public perception of firearms.

A square guitar case is common place, would even fit the legal description for firearms transport if it was a lockable one, and will suit your needs just fine I think.

Thanks man, I really appreciate that.
I figure two decent quality combo locks with different codes and a trigger lock should suffice.
Ah well, once I step up from the L license to the N, all these problems of transport will simply dissolve.
And a year after that I can begin to add some real firearms to the safe. :)
