my 14yr old just tryed trap for the first time and really like it and wants to do more. Can anyone tell me what might be a good gun for him i have a few shotguns a 870 wingmaster 12ga a rem1100 in a 20ga and a Stoeger o/u 12ga. For some reason he likes the SXS but i have not seen to many people shoot them for trap or skeet

If you can find one, a Beretta Urika 391 is probably the best semi-auto. Semi autos will have softer recoil than O/U, so depending on your son's size, that could be a factor.

If it's trap he likes specifically, then get a trap gun (Monte Carlo stock, mid and end beads, high comb). If he wants to shoot all kinds of clays, a Sporting gun is probably more flexible.

The 391 series is a discontinued line at this point, but can still be bought, mostly used.

The current Beretta semi-auto series, the A400 series, does not yet have a trap version, but they have a sporting that you can buy in Canada, and they have a parallel target (more like trap) version that will be available in Canada soon enough.

I'll leave it to others to comment about O/U, since I only use semi-autos.

If he likes sxs that's what he should shoot. Shotgunning is about fit and feel. Sxs feels right to me and I can shoot them well. Don't let anyone tell u a sxs can't be used in trap. It's not common but either are the old model 12 trap and skeet guns that used to dominate the fields. Find a gun that fits him well and he will shoot it better no matter what configuration

Best advice right there!! Find a gun that fits! There are quite a few guys at my club shooting clays with SxS. Most people here aren't shooting the games "for fun", they are keeping up in their wing shooting, and are using their bird guns.

As for the gun to fit him is there any good places in the GTA area where i can go to find out what will fit him or any one on here i cold meet up with to find out

You shouldn't need to go anywhere to see if it "fits"...Its not like trying on a pair of pants. Just get him to hold it and make sure the LoP is ok, and that he isn't reaching too far with either hand. Also make sure that his upper body is strong enough to hold a shooting position without laboring. Most importantly, make sure the gun feels comfortable in his shoulder. If you really aren't sure, go to Gagnon Sports in Oshawa, they should be able to help you out.
