Well it looks like Saturday shoots at Holland&Holland needs to be booked 3 weeks in advance, so it's a no go.... Anyone know of anything else that's closer to the city?

TIA

West London School

A bit further afield but very nice.

Even if you don't get to pull the trigger it's worth doing the rounds in London to see H&H, Purdey, William Evans, William Asprey who have retail outlets.

Thanks all... H&H and J Purdey stores are already programmed in the GPS... And it turns out I did end up getting an appt at H&H Field.....

West London Shooting School is fantastice with loaner guns available and good coaches that are the pullers. It is just across the military airfield where the royalty and VIP fly out. The round about is named after the Polish military. It is strange to drive by houses and apartments and then get off the round about to find: horse farm, golf, WLSS and another sporting facility further down the road. The towers are very good but far more difficult is the stations set up along the rolling hills. They have targets that nobody has in N.A.!

Give my best to Rody if you go. We met up at Orvis Sandanona for a few years at the Orvis Cup. I was the wine provider at our table for the dinners.

Henry;)

Thanks you for all your advice... even the locals didn't know where to go shoot....

Londons a big village. Which locals did you ask. :D

To be honest geezer, I lived there for 3 years and I never heard of trap shooting in my manor. :D Never even met anyone that would admit to owning firearms. Easy to pass gun laws when virtually no one is interested I guess.

When are you going to England?

I can put you in touch with the guys that own and run Southdown sporting gun club which is an hour south of London in worthing and can recommend it or depending on which w/end you can go to one of my old pub gun club shoots and have the P**S ripped out of you. Further details will help me help you and yes you can have a gun.

I can think of at least 15 clay grounds in or around the south east and many many more smaller shoots

I shot at Southdown a few years ago. An interesting club located in a now defunct English village. You have to drive across a field to get there, but well worth the trip.

Um I think you may be mistaken? you drive through muntham farm then out of the back of the farm down a long and winding unfinished road down in to the valley.

I was a member there for 12 years

The village your referring to is called Findon Village and is still going strong, even after hundreds of years http://www.findonvillage.com/indmed.htm

To me, it was like driving across a field. I remember going up a lane off the main road that was identified by a very little sign that said "Gun Club". I drove up a lane that seemed to disappear until I saw a sign saying Southdown. I kept going driving along a sort of ridge until I entered a sort of compound. They were just starting up the generator for the day.

If I'm not mistaken, I may well have spoken to you in the clubhouse which was on the second floor of a building.
