I want to get better at Trap, but I can't do that on my own. Does anybody know of any informal or non-registered Trap shooting groups that meet on a regular basis, preferably weekly, or every other week? I'm in the Hamilton area, so I was hoping it would be somewhere close by, such as Hamilton Gun Club, Galt Sportsmen, or Waterford. I would like to start competing however I would like to get my scores above their current standing (3/20).

If there are none however, would anybody be willing to get a group together to meet on the regular? Preferably some old hands to help point us in the right direction, and some young guys willing to learn?

If the Hamilton club is like our club, asking a group in the club house if they would shoot a round of trap, it usually doesn't take any effort to get a squad together, especially if you offer to open and fill the machine.

Hey I am a little ways away but I am willing to meet up once a month or so roughly if you set a group up, I'm new to the sport and willing to meet new people in the group all the time keep me informed.

There are a significant number of trap clubs in SW Ontario. I think I have been to and shot at almost all of them. Pick one that is close to home or work and join one. They all have regulars that go every shooting day. Most of us are willing to spend some time with you or hook you up with someone to get you going in the right direction. I'm a member at Waterford and there are a number of people there that would be willing to help you out, me included.

I'm also new to the sport and would like to join in a group...I inquired last summer to the Ontario Trap Association and received a call from the director I believe. She invited out to the Hamilton club and took and hour out of her day to teach me....I've gone back once again but would like to be part of a group of similarly experienced shooters.

I shoot at Guelph Rod and Gun. Trap is open to the public every Saturday starting at 9am. There are a great bunch of regulars and the guys that run it are really welcoming and friendly (especially the stout bearded one lol) Best part is they don't care what shot gun you bring. From tacti-cooled to high end over unders, all are welcome. I believe its $10 a round for non members. Bring 7.5's or 8 shot and have at er!

Oxford Fish and Game in Woodstock has Trap every Sunday and Wednesday daytime all year and Wednesday evenings during the warm months. Nice group of guys and its open to the public. Mant of them are there every, single, Sunday and are very willing to help.
