I'm not sure exactly what I have here. The long nose on receiver may make it a Model 1868, made in 1870, despite stamped there "Model 1870". Some were just stamped with date of mfg there. YouTuber says the long receiver neck makes it an 1868. The barrel may be sleeved, based on a ridge I see at the chamber mouth, can't detect any evidence of that at muzzle. At this point I'm confused by the 45 cal bore (and the bbl length), as I think 45-70 came later on wholly new guns as opposed to conversions. Other notes and pics:
Receiver marked MODEL 1870 over eagle over US
Receiver serial 39699
Lock marked US 1884 and traces of the eagle
the letter V is stamped on bbl at receiver
bore measures .45-.46" at muzzle with calipers
front of front sight to muzzle is 1.1"
Bbl is 22&1/8", bore is shiny with shallow style rifling, not much pitting
stock length from tip to heel including plate is 29&5/8"
The hammer and the action release lever are both absent
