Trapper Course Southern Ontario

I did my course with Todd Griffin in Wellandport years ago. Not sure whether he is still doing courses but good knowledgable guy.

You learn the equipment, biology of the animals, safe use and setting of the traps, regulations and then generally get to skin out a muskrat or whatever is available.

What is all covered by the course??

Depends on the instructor..... It’s minimum 40hrs long. You should cover the regulations, types of traps and usage, animal biology. Hopefully time will be spent mostly in the field learning how to set traps, and read animal sign on where to set them, also the instructor should have some critters on hand to show how skin, and set-up on stretchers. Hopefully they will have enough critters on hand for you to work on them yourself. Some classroom time is needed to go over the laws etc.... When I took the course it was by far the best outdoors course I ever took.....it change my whole out look of the great white north..lol. Trapping has become a passion for me....

Go to the Ontario Fur Managers web site and all the instructors are listed on it and their locations, with contact information
