Recently certified, any trappers on here?
Any interest in a trapping thread?
What are some other good forums online?

I am a licensed trapper in Ontario, I dont trap at all right now. Between work and family and normal hunting activities I just don't get the time to get all the kit out and make it to the field. But yes I would be interested in a trapping forum, there is one on Ontario Out of Doors, and several on FB if you can handle all the BS that comes with that.

Im an active trapper. Mostly target coyotes but enjoy going for beaver, raccoon, mink and weasel. Sask trappers association has a very active group on FB, Trapping Inc is a huge diverse group on FB as well. Trapping Inc has some great content thats free on Youtube as well.

Nice. Trying to avoid Facebook and cancelled it a year ago. After spending a day fleshing various animals, I see myself more of a nuisance trapper than a fur harvester. Fleshing is major work!
No lethal snares permitted where I am at for coyote etc. So I will most likely stick to lethal beaver snares and traps to clean out some of the spots where they are doing major damage.

I'm an Alberta non-resident trapper... so no trap line, I do the odd nuisance job from time to time

got a nice fat XL beaver drying, just flipped it on the board Saturday.

but yes the whole fleshing the hides is something.... and I'm a little out of practice, but hey my sewing skills are improving too

Trapping inc, Ontario trappers, Saskatchewan wild furharvesters and several Ontario trapper councils have forums on FB. You Tube has a bunch of trapping related channels

Awesome. I'll check those forums out thanks again. I'm going to try to push myself to do enough hides to pay for each trap and the rest of supplies needed to flesh and dry hides. Seeing some of the instructors do it compared to myself, I could tell they'd done many many many hides lol.

I trap on a registered trapline south of GP (junior partner)
My son and I have had a pretty good season for part time Trappers
Wolf,Lynx, Fisher, Coyote, Fox, Marten, Mink.

Licensed trapper on PEI but haven't really gotten into it. Fall is so busy, and I have a pretty small window to put out leg holds before the snow flies, I just don't bother.

Some day though...

Is trapping something anyone can get into? I've often wondered about it, but I don't know where to start and I don't know the details about trap lines (do you need one? How expensive are they? Etc) or anything else for that matter.

My buddies place almost flooded last weekend due to a beaver Dam downstream from his place, although the Dam is on private property...

Funny thing about dams. Since the natural habitat of dams is in water and streams, and since both water and navigable streams are a hard thing to actually own; there’s one heck of a good chance that the dam is not on private land at all.

Jez sayin’

in ontario there is a course thats required to become a trapper. ive heard they are about a week long and actually very good even if you dont intend to trap full time. im thinking about taking one in 2021
