Hopefully this will work as I havent had much luck trying to post videos here... (if there is a 14 year old out there that can get it embedded better than I can go for it..)

My late father and I bought some property for deer hunting a few years ago, and like most property owners, we have had issues with trespassers and folks dumping garbage on our property. I love trail cameras and have a bunch and one year caught a person dumping brush on the property with the camera. After refusing to clean it up, a visit to the local OPP detachment with all of the pictures resulted in the brush being removed, and then a couple of weeks later, my camera being stolen, even though I had moved it). I now have several cameras out watching the road I built into the property and cameras watching dummy cameras (that no longer work) to see if I can catch them stealing the dummies.

This spring, the 24x24 inch Private Property sign was torn off the rope I have across the roadway and all the flagging tape was gone. I built a backing board out of light plywood and tied on new tape. Two days after i did so, this is what i got on the camera... Now I know where the flagging tape is going!

My grandfather had signs all over property that read "we believe all trespassers should be shot and all survivors shot again".

He never had problems with people trespassing

When I was younger, my dad had a quarter a couple of miles from the main farm, always had problems with hunters and the locals driving over his fields. He would close the gates and just inside the property in the grass he would flip over a couple of sets of harrows, the ones with the four inch spikes, perfect for ripping tires apart. The problem never went away but it defiantly slowed down to not much of an issue. He would find them tossed aside sometimes, so you know they worked. We would hear from time to time that someone thought he owed them some tires but none of the locals ever had the guts to confront him, most criminals blame someone else for there problems.

I thought about putting a solar panel and wireless camera up in a tree near my hun camp But.... there were a few issues my buddies brought up that had us not bother. Our cabin gets broken into on average once every 2 to 3 yrs. Mostly by snowmobile users who so far have not damaged the property but still.

My buddies concerns were, what do we do if we catcheck them on camera there likely locals and after there fined or cited could burn down the cabin... so we're just letting it ride and relying on the bear deterents only.

always best to get to know the neighbours. I am lucky where I am. my neighbour is a scrapper. I drop off pieces of steel off my property for him to take care off. gave him a bag of plums from my tree in the city. stop and yak once in a while. he keeps an eye on the property for me. so far I haven't had any issues with theft....

Do they bear arms? :)

Seriously, I wonder: would bear repellent applied to the rope keep its odor sufficiently long to deter the bears from playing with it?

I had a bunch more cute videos of bears playing with the no trespassing sign and flagging tape, and one of a moose coming up, looking at sign and walking away. Unfortunately a corrupted picture file ate all of my 2000+ images stored on a flash drive and I lost them.

I wish this guy could read as well as the moose - its hunting season in Onterrible and I have multiple pictures of this guy walking past the sign and onto my property. Forwarded the pictures to local law enforcement to deal with.
