Looking to get a sako trg 22, but i'm having a hard time finding out if its considered a restricted fire arm or non... i'm also looking to get a hunting license for next year and i was wondering if i would be able to use the rifle for hunting...

isn't it only 4.9kgs? i figured that would be pretty light, my dad's rifle wieghs quite a bit more then that.

What about a 700 VLS or SPS ... both over a pound lighter.. still with a long barrel great action and probably $1000 less...

I agree with bear 23 definetly not a great choice for a hunting rifle, great long range target rifle, but not my first choice for hunting, my question to u is where are u hunting? bush or prairie? what u are hunting will decide what caliber u are using, i currently own a weatherby vanguard in 300wby mag, so far i love this gun, there are a wide assortment of other great rifles out there in great calibers. Your budget will also decide what to buy, personally i wouldnt spend the money on a trg and carry it around in the trees and risk the scratches, not to mention the weight will really catch up to u throughout the day, granted my weatherby is no light weight queen, but it fits my style of hunting.

i luged around a trg 42 this weekend for a bit and did not enjoy it (thats all i had for this hunting trip)

will be purchasing a ligher and cheaper rifle soon.

TRG22 is fine target rifle, but not hunting, unless you want to look like sniper.
Buy rifle with lighter barrel so you can carry if required and select a caliber suitable for your hunting situation.
