trigger adjustment in 10/22

I just bought a Ruger 10/22. I love the gun but the trigger is a little stiff. I was considering bringing it to a gunsmith but before I did I thought I should check here. Has anyone installed a different trigger - if so, what kind. Has anyone modified the factory trigger - how tough is it.

I just installed the Volquartsen match hammer and sear. What a difference compared to stock. A HUGE improvement.
