well i realise this topic has probably already come up but, i know the old trigger assemblies on the m77s are somewhat adjustable and in doing some research on line i found an article from 1976 that describes the adjustment procedure.
Can someone have a look at the attached article and explanation and let me know if this is safe?
i think my rifle dates to 1982-84 somewhere in there it does have the small allen screw adjustment in the trigger.
thanks

There was an update on these as well.
An added lock screw to prevent one of the set screws
from backing out.
Call them, they are more than helpful.

Not long after this model of 77 was out, Ruger issued a sort of semi recall. They stated the trigger could become hazzardous by improper adjustment, so they issued a replacement part one was supposed to put in, which prevented trigger adjustment, actually increasing the weight of pull.
Guess what, I didn't install mine, so it should be here someplace. Anybody want one, to make their 77 "safe?"

It's safe if the safety functions correctly and the trigger only releases the sear when you activate it... have someone competent adjust and inspect it for you.

ok so it appears i have a 1984 model based on the serial numbers from the ruger site.
the only thing im not quite clear on is it appears from the schematic that the triger over travel screw is actually a set screw with another set screw on top of it to lock it in?
does this make sense?
so if i try and adjust the sear engagement screw am i supposed to back of the overtravel screw so the engagement screw has room to move?
if anyone can help out it would be greatly appreciated.
thanks.
