trigger on a Winnie 88

I'm re-doing the wood work for a friend on a 1970 Winchester 88 lever chambered in .308. The trigger on this gun has considerable creep and substantial weight . Any suggestions? Any trigger kits available or should I refer him to a gunsmith? I have had the bolt and trigger mechanism all apart and inspected the sear for unusual grooves or wear. All looks smooth. No rounded off corners that I could see. Any advice?

Have you got it back together? I have had my 88 since I was 15 (I know, spoiled brat) and it has the same creepy trigger, but I have never had the guts to take it apart. Every other gun I have had has been stripped to the bones, including my boxlock shotguns, but the 88 just intimidates me!

My uncle had a fellow in the Fraser Valley work on his, and apparently improved the trigger substantially. I will see if I can get a name.
