I just bought a new ruger 1022 and the trigger pull is awfull. Any advice on reducing the factory setting?

...along with the V.Q. hammer you could:
  • Polish and shim your trigger internals
  • JB Weld the sear (not recommended for newbies)
  • Polish and radius your bolt
  • Get a target trigger with an overtravel adjustment screw
  • Get over sized T/G pins

there is a step by step procedure outlined in rimfire.com
I went with a power custom adjustable sear (comes with shims)
and did the polish. must now be about a 2lb trigger, no creep.

I would recommend doing all the work yourself, with having a drop in trigger on the bench ready to go. That way you get to fully understand how the trigger works for a full custom tune and if you screw up, you can just drop in the new trigger parts.

I did the JB weld, polish ect and it works well. I am still working my way down to a light trigger pull but the feel of the trigger is excellent.

Thanks -- my rifle was not shooting very accurately out of the box, and I think adjusting the trigger is just one part of the problem.
