Looking to replace the stock trigger in my .308 700 SPS with a quality custom trigger.

This will be my first time replacing a factory trigger.

I am slowing looking to turn my SPS into a medium range precision rig, purely for ####s and giggles, no practical reason – the McMillan stock is on order! (can’t wait to take off the factory tupperware)

What make and model of trigger would you recommend? (cost is not a factor within reason)

Thanks in advance.

Order a Jewell Trigger and don't look back.

You can get them in every possible Remington configuration.

With bolt release and safety.
With bolt release and no safety.
Without bolt release with safety.
Without bolt release and without safety.

For my comp guns I have Bolt Release but no Safety...if it's a hunting/varmint gun then the safety would be a good idea.

Don't get one without the bolt release though.....trust me on this one.

The Jewel trigger is the cat's as*, no question, I think what cyanide is talking about is like 1 of my Jewels, when you retract the bolt, it comes right out, very slick! It will end up on the ground(the bolt), in the mud, and you can't leave your rifle in the rack, standing up, with the action open, you would have to remove the bolt first.

Many consider the CG trigger now made by X-Treme shooting Products the best. This is is a quality 2-stage trigger and will be in stock inless than a week..

That makes sence...thanks.

Peter: Do I have your sworn statement that the Cg 2 stage trigger is better then a Jewel, remember this can be used against you in the future.

If you have used a 2-stage target trigger in the past, the Jackson triggers are excellent. They are not a typical military 2-stage type trigger. These are equivalent to but not as light in release weight as an Anschutz 2-stage.
Having used a CG-21 (the forerunner to the CG-22) for over a year,it has remained consistent never needing readjustment.Using the light spring(heavy and light provided) my 1st stage is at about 7oz and the 2nd stage breaks at about 16oz.
TR shooters are frequent users of 2-stage triggers. These are excellent triggers. I have no vested interest ,just willing to expound on a great product!

There is no arguing that Jewel and Timney are the 'standards.'

I will add though, Rifle Basix are also getting good reviews. Price isn't as shocking and they are drop in for the Rem's as well.

Is the non-inletting-required (no front tensioning screw) CG trigger available? And/or anyone ever tried one with VBull bottom metal?

I've tried the Anschutz trigger and would like to have a 2 stager on my setup, but have never been able to find out if a CG trigger would fit in my rig without extensive mods...

X-treme Shooting has all the info on the new CG-22. Tom Myers the owner is also great to talk to and is more than helpful on the phone.

I own and shoot both. While there is nothing wrong with the Jewel, the CG has to be fired to be believed. I can truly surprise myself with each shot from the CG (500gm). I bought a second CG to have on hand for the next custom build.

Figure I might go with the Timeny and get it from Mysticprecision.

The price is decent, I can get it easily from a Canadian store (and CGN sponser) and I sure it's a big improvment over the factory one. $325 seems steep (for the Jewel) for a "fun build".

Before I place the order any negative comments about the Timeny?
