Trigger Recommendations Please

The Jewel BR trigger can be considered as a two stage.

Stage 1 : Lightly rest your finger tip on the trigger
Stage 2 : Apply slight pres...BOOM!

What make and model of trigger would you recommend? (cost is not a factor within reason)

$325 seems steep (for the Jewel) for a "fun build".

Bit of a contradiction in your posts now ;)

Well the $325 price is a bit steep but you will only ever buy it once.

Buy once, cry once.

Nice thing about the HVR is that with the spring set you can have whatever pull weight you want from a good 6oz up to 3.5 pounds. So if you wanted to use a light trigger at the range you put in the light spring and if you take the gun hunting you can put in a heavier spring and tune it to your liking.

I did say within reason...$325 does not seem reasonable to me for a tirgger for a gun I am building for fun. Every other trigger I have looked at is less than half of the Jewel, and while I am sure it kicks ass it is a little outside my comfort level for this project.

I do appreaciate your thoughts.

Cheers

If the rifle is just for fooling around just get the factory trigger tuned - you probably won't discern the difference from a lower end custom and be probably a lot better than you could imagine. H*ll you might even be able to do it yourself.

I've put timney triggers on both of my rifles now.

One of the biggest differences between timney and jewel that hasn't been mentioned yet is the actual feel of the trigger itself:

jewel triggers are thinner than Timneys, so it also depends if you like a wide trigger or a thin one:

Got the jewell from google. I couldn't find one with the right aspect for the timney so I just took my own:

I can't honestly recommend one over the other as I did have one rifle with a jewel trigger I didn't shoot it enough to get an opinion.

All I can say is that I have put timneys on both of my target rifles and I've been happy.

Thanks ceriksson

I have settled on the Timeny for sure. Going to order today if I can.
I know tunning my own would work for my purposes but I really like the idea of a custom...

Sent your stock trigger off the someone who knows what they are doing and have it tuned for about $50. Your money would be better spent on a custom barrel. You can have the best trigger in the world (CG/Davies, Jewell etc) but if your barrel can't produce....;)

Wow!

Timney triggers have gone up lately...... I picked one up for one of my Model 700s last October......
I paid less than $200...
AT A GUNSHOW!!!!

You won't regret the Timney

Cheers!

Where are you guys buying your triggers? Timney lists the #511 for $124.95 USD and will ship to Canada (or they did when I bought a trigger for my M96 Swede last year).
