So looking at upgrading the trigger and want some input on the Ruger BX trigger
Is it a decent upgrade or do I bite the bullet and get a kidd version?

I've never tried any other trigger in my 22 so I've got nothing to compare to.

I have a Kidd single and a Kidd double stage. I would go Kidd double stage everyday ,all day it's all aluminum. But if cost matters I'm sure the BX would be a good option. I was always told buy once cry once. So get the better option and you won't be sorry.
Cheers

The Ruger BX trigger is pretty bad.Kidd is way better.

You could just get the Kidd trigger parts kit. I got a Kidd parts kit years ago and it has been awesome.

I kept the stock trigger but changed the hammer and that was sufficient for my needs, went from 6.5-7lbs to 4.5lbs and for my plinking gun that is perfect

I got a bx trigger for Christmas.( I wanted to find out for myself if I liked them.) I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but just from dry firing I think I am going to like it. For comparison I have a timiney and I have one that someone did a trigger job using a stock trigger. I think the bx is better than the one with the trigger job. I personally think the bx is good enough, certainly a big improvement over the stock trigger. Somewhat inexpensive and nice that its a complete drop in unit.

Well I purchased a BX trigger today just because its available in town and i'm weak lol
I'll upgrade to something better once I see how this one compares but im no rush

how do you like it? have you used it yet? I had mine out today for the first time , not as nice as my timiny but its going to do the job for me.

I installed a BX a while ago. I got zero complaints on it. Hell of a lot nicer than the factory. Yes a KIDD trigger is crisper/cleaner breaking but I'm not shooting a match 10/22. The BX is pleanty good for my plinking needs. If you pockets are deep, don't think, just get the KIDD. If you're just plinking, heck, even target shooting, you'll be very happy with the BX.

I would love to try a Kidd 2 stage, but for now the Kidd trigger parts kit was a great investment.
I also have a great friend who can do wonderful things with stock Ruger trigger groups, thanks Bobc.

I have a Timney in my carbine that breaks at 3 lbs.
Got a KIDD trigger kit then ordered the springs from KIDD and have it down to 2.5+/- in the rifle.
The Tuffer buffer or similar products reduces the annoying clang but doubtful it improves accuracy.
Bedding the action and some barrel support in the fore end is probably all that I plan for the future.

After polishing up a BX trigger, mine breaks cleanly at 2.5lbs. Hence why I find it difficult to spend 3x as much for a minute improvement of a Timney or Kidd.

The Kidd two stage trigger is 2.5 lbs on the heavy end. It can be adjusted down as light as 6 Oz. I don't know if I would classify that as a minute improvment. It all depends on what you are using it for.

Indeed. I was thinking more on the average plinking use. If I was shooting a match grade rig, no doubt a KIDD.

Put a kidd trigger kit in mine. Great trigger, probably around 2.5 pounds. Trigger kit drops into stock housing and is not much more than the bx, think I paid $170 from dlask.

Dlask does not stock the spring kit so I ordered it out of the US. End cost to me was probably $18 CDN . . . but worth it to me.
There are five springs which they rate from 1 3/4, 2 1/4, 2 3/4, 3 1/4 and 3 3/4 and they are color coded.
The weights I was getting were more than printed. Their explanation is that they do not manufacture the trigger guards and slight variations can create large differences.
Whether the poly trigger guard port can be deepened is still to be tested. I have a spare so it is something for further experimentation.
