Here I am all set to get the savage accutrigger and a good friend and shooter times TWO , both these guys tell me that the accutrigger sucks.
Now what !!!
I am new to this long range shooting and for me long range will only be 1-500 m's and more like 300 m. After all I don't have a lot of choices to shoot here in hilly Ontario
Any way they are telling me that the Sako is the way to go. Are they all not the same after you play with them and tweak them ?
I mean this is for casual shooting and hunting at lease not competition.
Now what !!!

Have you tried an Accutrigger yourself? Even dry firing a few times should tell you all you need to know.

Not sure about the trigger. If you get the Savage don't get one with Savages own plastic stock (flex). The the McMillian or HS stocks are good. If you get a Savage police model the triggers are adjustable down to 1.5 pounds. Mine is crisp - no creep.

Sounds like your two buddies are getting worried, that perhaps they may get their behinds kicked by a cheaper rifle! The accutriggers that I've tried are great. Wished they came stock on a Rem. LOL!!

The big difference in the Saavage and the Sako is the price!!
You must ask yourelsf if you want to spend that kind of coin for a rifle you may not be able to utilize, or if you will be satisfied with a rifle that is a lot less expensive but still very accurate.

Don't buy either "just because" someone tells you to!
I have very expensive rifles, and some very inexpensive rifles, and like them all.
I don't own ANYTHING that I don't shoot regardless of how nice or expensive it is!
"It must be accurate for its intended purpose" is my first criteria....

I have a Savage 10FPLE with the accutrigger. I haven't played with mine at all. It breaks clean and has no creep. If that's your buddies' idea of a crappy trigger, then buy the Sako (they apparently have no knowlege of triggers) . If you want to kick your buddies' a$$es on the line with a bone stock gun, then buy the Savage. :D Either way, it's your money.

Not be rude but I doubt your buddies have ever tried an Accutrigger.

I take trigger feel very seriously and will change/modify/get rid of what doesn't work.

I can say from the Savage rifles I have tried, the Accutrigger is wonderful. Out of the box, you need to lighten them up (easy 30sec job), then they have to be used a bit to smooth out the machining. From that point on, they are superb.

Equal to any trigger I have played with at 2lbs and much better then most factory triggers. I have played with most everything factory and aftermarket.

I would not say my Accutrigger sucked but it is over rated. I have the 10FPLE2B and the lowest I could set it was 3lbs. Otherwise I have no complaints with it. I just went in there and polished it up a bit and changed one of the springs and it breaks at 1lb now. It was a 50 cent fix.

Myself and the wife have accu-triggers on our savages and I realy can't complain about it for the price....actually have to say it is great! I have to totally agree with Mystic, They are not canjar's but in the right hands are just as effective, You will give your buddies a run for thier money. And the best part is you can realy rub it in when you do.:p ;) :D

If they say 'it sucks' get them to elaborate. 'It sucks' how? Too heavy? That's easy to measure and compare. Has creep? Try it yourself and see. Rough/loose - again, try it and see. A lot of folks who dislike the AccuTrigger are blinded by their emotional dislike of Savage, and are unable to give an objective view. A good trigger can be MEASURED in a number of concrete ways, and it measures up very very well against factory triggers, and a lot of aftermarket triggers.

"prosper " I like the way you ask that and I did not get then to elaborate as I should have and now that you mention it they did not have much good to say about Savages in general.
I am going to have fun showing them how its done "on the line"

And I have tried them out and it is one of the reasons I want to get one,as I have no patients waiting on a smith working on a trigger ;)

The only thing that i disliked about my accutrigger was the feel of the blade touching my finger first. A 1 minute removal of offending blade transpired.
Now its great.
