Hi folks,

I was offered a Trijicon TR23-2g, brand new, for about 1500$ +tx

https://www.trijicon.com/products/details/tr23-2g

I have a hard time finding references that would tell me the value on Canadian market.

Also, Trijicon guarantees the Tritium brightness for 15 years. If the scope have been sitting in the store for 4-5 years, is there any chance it’s life will be somewhat shortened...??

What are your thoughts on that case?

Thanks!

I bought one 4 years ago brand new for $1049. The tritium is not exactly daylight bright. At dusk I can see it. It has definitely faded in the years I have owned it but the fibre optic illumination is really nice to have.

Seems like there is not a lot of places we can buy them...
Do you know how much they would sell for today?

Ultimately it breaks down to what you're willing to pay and what the seller is willing to let it go for.

While they are good scopes, if I were going to dish out $1500 for a USED scope, that retailed initially for $1000ish... I'd be asking for a friend to slap me. There are a ton of better options on the market at that price point - new and used.

Some items gain value over time. Unfortunately I dont see the the TR-23 being that item (my 2 cents)

EDIT:
h ttps://www.###########/optics/rifle-scopes/barrie/trijicon-accupoint-5-20x50
quick search comes up with a value of $1100

Definitely more reasonable. Inflation and dollar, I'd consider that a "reasonable" price. Still high for what I'd be willing to pay.

Hi,

The reason I asked was especially because I could not find any new, on the web, in Canada to compare.
The scope I was offered IS NEW. In the store.

I was only guessing that if it was sitting there since before everything went crazy, there was a chance it was paid at reasonable cost by the store. And I could have a great value for the $.

Seems it’s not really the case.

Thanks!

I had a Trijicon but sold it to my son. Was going to buy another until I see some horror stories about Trijicon warranty. If that's the way they want to treat their customer's as far as I'm concerned they can go pound sand.
