Long story short, I'm looking at options for a scope, I'd like a 2-10 magnification and 50 or 56mm tube, I have rings that are nice but 30mm (which I don't mind). However there isn't a lot of options, the minox fits the bill, but is hard to get a hold of, I have a prostaff 7 2.5-10x50 (30mm) on another rifle and like the scope but would kind of like a 2-10, and the rings I have would clear a 56mm.

Anyways, have any of you used a Trijicon 2.5-10x56 for hunting? I've looked through a few in Calgary and find their glass to be decent, but the prostaff 7 has better glass for the dollar.

Just curious from those who have used it for hunting if they would do it again.

(BTW, reason I am kinda stuck on the size, I bought a steyr model M with fancy quick release rings in 30mm, they look expensive, they sit high enough to clear a 56mm tube, I figure I might as well use them)

I owned that exact scope for a couple years and used it on one of my coyote rifles. It was terrific glass, and very useful for hunting into the dimmest, darkest hours. Excellent durable exterior finish, and a quality feel to it. I loved the tritium illumination; bright enough to be visible in near-total darkness, and when there was any significant natural light the adjustable fibre-optic could always be set to a comfortable non-over-powering level. The one I had was the illuminated center dot. I've also owned a Trijicon with the triangle reticle, but didn't like that at all for hunting.

The reason I sold it was simply its massive size and bulk. It made for a very poorly balanced rifle, and as I moved more and more towards lighter guns that problem became worse and worse. On a heavier gun used strictly from a rested position in a blind, it could be great. For carrying, or shooting from improvised field positions, I'd never go that way again.
