I just received my rmr on a trade and I'm very frustrated with it already. The reticle looks like a big blob and it's hard to acquire fast (thought that was the whole point of this type of optic), it doesn't need batteries as it uses the fiber crap technology to illuminate the so called "blob".

Someone please tell me that it's something I'm doing wrong, or maybe the damn thing is broken? I'm thinking now that I should have bought an LED model that takes batteries instead. It's so frustrating spending so much $$ and getting sub-par quality.

thanks for any input guys.

How far from your eye is it mounted? Is the glass clean? Are you staring at the dot or staring through the dot? Pics would help if they capture the true extent of the issue.

I have it installed on my Glock 17. I tried staring at it all ways and it just seems unclear, I guess I was expecting it to be like a true red dot sight, like my aimpoint micro - boy was I wrong. The amber dot doesn't look perfectly round, like I said " like a blob.

I'll try to get some clear pics, it's going to be a little tough, I'll see what I can do.

First off, stop staring at the dot. Like any optic, you need to look through or beyond the reticle. Are you by chance doing this indoors with low lighting? And the dot will appear much larger at arms length, the optic was designed to be mounted on rifles which puts them much closer to your eye. I'm not sure about the battery models, but my EoTech reticle filled the glass at arms reach as well. I suspect you will have better results with one of the finer dot battery models.

I have the RM06 with the 3.25 dot, could it be you just weren't expecting a "large" dot? Mine is more like a "red dot" sight. It's the LED version with adjustable brightness.
Most of the dual models have a 7, or 9 MOA dot that's pretty large.

I have the Trijicon Reflex and the amber "dot" is not a perfectly round dot but more of a spot as you mention... like a paint spot that fell on the ground...

My buddys inexpensive red dot was this way as well...

In this case I believe this is how it comes... after I stopped focusing on it and looked through it to focus on where it was placed on target with both eyes opened it seemed less noticeable... the amber dot seems to disappear against extremely bright backgrounds as well...

I just came back from Calgary Shooting Centre and had the gunsmith as well as a few other guys working there look at it - it's busted. I had a look at their other RMRs and they look clear and easy to pick up the dot. The one I have you just can't pick up the dot quick and it really does look like a deformed blob and you need to have it on target perfectly to see the blob, one slight movement and the blob can barely made out.

So I was sold a faulty piece of equipment from another user on here... he hasn't given me a trader rating, he got my slide (was a trade +cash) last thursday, he hasn't responded to any of my PM's yet, and I just noticed now that he has one bad trader rating from last month and hasn't responded to that user either.

How long is fair to wait for a negative rating? I hope that I'm not getting screwed for $600, that's way to much money to lose, this RMR is as good as a rock.

Man I'm so pissed right now.

I wish I could take a clear picture of it but I can't - it has to be seen in person to really understand what I'm talking about.

That totally sucks man... The blob should not disappear... The reflex is parallax free and even when I move my head on the cheekweld the dot stays on target no matter where it is positioned in the glass...

Really hope you get it sorted...

I hope I get it sorted out quick, I've completed so many trades and never had an issue, but I guess there's always a first. $600? :( not good man, not good. I guess I have his address, should send him mail.

Yeah hopefully the seller refunds your money plus something extra for the emotional distress.

Uh WTF?! Its called buyer beware. I agree the seller is leaning heavily in the scumbag direction for selling a known defective product. However, it is still the buyer's responsibility and risk. There is no "emotional distress" to speak of let alone compensate for. Refunds or exchanges are just that and nothing more as you indicate should be the case. A refund or exchange from a retailer is a courtesy not a right.

I could be out to lunch, but I believe that Novan3 was being what we called sarcastic ;)

The whole situation stinks though. Perhaps the optic got damaged during shipping, but these things are capable of taking a serious beating. Hopefully the OP can get a refund and the original owner can get it serviced (if repairable?).

hey now, there's gotta be some coverage for emotional distress ! ;) All I want is a refund, I won't even charge the guy for shipping, I'm willing to lose out some funds as long as I get the majority of it back.

$600 is a lot to flush down the toilet, while the seller is laughing his ass off knowing he got rid of a broken optic and got what he paid for it. pretty sweet deal if you ask me. not right at all, i'm the sucker here.

What does Trijicon offer for warranty? I had a RMR a few years back and it was a slick little unit.
