Trimming the trigger spring?

NONE AT ALL!!! DO NOT TOUCH THAT SPRING!
AND YES I AM YELLING!
The trigger spring is also your hammer spring. Making it shorter will cause you more problems that you can imagine. That spring controls how hard your hammer hits the firing pin, how fast your bolt opens and several other things. If you want the trigger pull crisper, notice I did not say light, send it to a gunsmith who is completely familier with the M-14 trigger system. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO "FIX" IT without knowing exackly what you are doing. Having a premature out of battery firing puts about 55,000 lbs of preasure in your face.

Like m39a2 says, leave it alone. That's not how a trigger job is done on an M305. There are aftermarket adjustable trigger groups available, but cheap they ain't.

TRIGGER JOBS SHOULD NOT BE ATTEMPTED AT HOME..... unless you are a gunsmith or on the cusp of becomeing one that is m14 trained.
The factory norc trigger/hammer spring is AT THE MINIMUM size already and shaving it down WILL NOT BENEFIT your rifle what so ever..... despite what you may read on the internet.
I am looking at the m14 shop manual right now..... that spring should measure NO LESS than 2.15 inches. every norc spring i've checked with a caliper measures at this number.
you can listen to my warning or not.
I am very familiar with the rifle you purchased, the norc 14 shorty. That rifle was put together by a guy who knows the m14 inside and out ....... Do not change a thing on an already tuned and ready to shoot rifle..... that would just be a silly thing to do, and i mean no offense.
