I had the pleasure of spending a very short time in the Cabelas store in Hamburg, PA this Sunday. I only had about 2 hours to spend in the store, & only $50 duty free since I was only in the U.S for 24 hours. Cabelas is an AWESOME! outdoor store. BassPro got nothing like it. The selection of outdoor gear was endless. I could have literally spent hours just looking at all the diorama's. The one on deer was just outstanding! The trophy wall had a buck called the "knife handle" buck, that took my breath away.

I took a few other pics & vids while I was there. Here's the link if anyone is interested. http://s149.photobucket.com/albums/s68/glang1/Cabelas 2008/

Man...I would love to go to a Cabela's store.
I think all sportsmen should form a religion.
Cabela's would be our house of worship, and
buying stuff would be considered a donation
to the church...long live Cabela-ism!!!

Just did the same ... better part of a day at the new Cabela's in
Scarborough, Maine. ( Right after L.L. Bean's, but before the Trading Post in Kittery, ME, Upland Outfitter's and Orvis in VT. Nice holiday ... included the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Louden, N.H. on the way through.

why worry about the 50.00 exemption???? Just buy, buy , buy until your hearts content, and pay the tax on the extra. I don't think I've spent less than 500.00 each time I visit one of the 3 u.s. cabela's stores near me...

I frequent the one in Rogers MN quite a bit. Great selection, and certainly better than Bass Pro. I do find both those companies overpriced on quite a few items however.

My "Church" was the Cabela's in East Grand Forks. Used to travel there about 4 times a year from Winnipeg, MB. More of a pilgrimage really.

I agree, BassPro is a good outdoor store IMHO, but Cabelas has them beat hands down! I will probably be back in that area in October so I am looking forward to spending more time there, & bringing back a lot more stuff :D

It is worth it to spend another 50 minutes on the road and go to the Super Scheel's in Fargo and also they have a Gander Mountain there. The Scheels has a ferris wheel in the middle that goes up through two floors.

The shop outside Detroit is kind of amazing too. Mind you, some prices are exhorbitant. There was a rough M1 rifle they wanted $800US for.
