Trip to Cabela's in Scarborough Maine

Hey all I been meaning to put some of the pics up for a awhile now but after seeing glang1's pics it gave me some incentive to get mine up too.

In June my wife and I got married and we took a trip to Maine, when I seen the Cabela's I had to stop and we spent proably 4 hours there.

Also x2 on everything glang1 said It was and absolutly awesome store, and gun stuff is so relaxed down there I couldnt beleve it. Ammo was out on shelves where you could look at it and pick it up no problem,not locked behind glass and have supervision while looking at it. Also I went to the counter and the man came up and was very obliging, he asked if there was anything I wanted to see. So he passed me a AR15 to look at no problem, No ID no age verification just a here you go!

I usually stay near Saco, not too far away, but I always forget about this place until we are leaving. I always see the sign from the I95 and say next time. I will make sure I go there next time.
I always go to the Kittery Trading Post. I love that place.

Is there anything for handgun lovers at Cabella's?
 
I have friends from up here that go down every year and shop in that store .. seen alot of pics ... seems like an amazing place with everything you need or want ... cheers gonecountry,

Yes there is alot of handguns. The main rifle wall is probably near 80feet long with a glass display counter in front. Well half the length probably 40 ft was all scopes in the displaycounter, the other 40 ft was all handguns. When I was there they had a great selection including 4 S&W 500's in 3 different barrel lengths.

I have one pics from far away of the gunwall but did not get any closeups as you werent supposed to take pictures of the products, but scenery pics were fine ;) Also they had a gun library which was its own room that had beatiful wood and glass cases, In them were all the nicest guns and antigues that were still for sale, there was double barrel SxS 12 gauge there that was $18,200 :eek: I would have liked to taken pictures in there but figured I wouldnt push my luck.
 
My wife and I just came back from Maine last night. We hit LL bean's in Freeport, Cabela's in Scarborough and the Trading Post in Kittery. Cabela's is awesome, unbelievable. Lots of everything and the prices didn't seem ridiculous. The Trading Post is also pretty cool, guns everywhere, no cable locks, no glass, talk about culture shock, actually trusting people is a different idea I guess. It was also National Hunting Week (or something like that) so there was a bunch of stuff going on at the different stores which was neat.
 
In March of 2006 and again in 2008 our gun club has taken a 2 day bus trip from Ont to the Cabelas store in Dundee, MI. Unbelivable....almost. About 40 people; club members and several wives, we stay overnight. Great comraderie building and easy way to make 500 to 1000$ for the club and all at a cost of 135$ per head. Customs people treat bus loads of tourists very well and you can bring lots of goodies back.....within reason. And you can eat elk and bison and all kinds of exotic stuff right in their cafereria. Highly recommended if you've never been there.
 
Wife & I did much the same earlier this month ... but we started at Louden,
New Hampshire for the first Sprint "chase to the cup" NASCAR event, then on to L.L. Bean's in Freeport, Cabela's in Scarborough, Trading Post in Kittery, then over to Orvis in Manchester, Vermont. Often there's a stop at Stone River Outfitter's (fly fishing/fly-tying stuff) in Bedford, New Hampshire and at Upland Outfitters in Bondville, Vermont (near Orvis). Wouldn't be a complete trip without consuming a prdigious quantity of fresh lobster, clams & scallops, maybe a few oysters and a "horn" or two of Rum while on the coast, and half day or so easily spent at the Vermont General store in Weston. If the weather is at all co-operative, a couple of days fly fishing on the West Branch of the Ausable between Wilmington & Lake Placid is definitely a nice way to wind it down for the trip home.

Kinda been making it an annual pilgrimage for the last few years. Cabela's is just one more stop on the way.

The Cabela's at Dundee is a nice trip as well ... especially on the way to or from the Grand. Reportedly Michigan's "No. 1" Tourist attraction ... over 2 million visitors a year. About half as large again as their Maine location.
