Hey guys,

I am looking to get a new front sight for my M14. Brownell's has a really nice Tritium ones and Smith Ent. has ones for a bit more cash. Does anyone know what the difference is between the two? (one has a Tr. bar and the other one a dot)

Anyways, any info is greatly appreciated.

These are my personal opinons so please rember each have there own taste.
The bar white 1 is a wider than the normal front sight blade hence your accuarcy is not the great & I found at low light conditions it more of my eye's focusing on the blade than my shots.
The dot at night/low light conditions is much easier to make accurate shots. It was sort of like shooting like using a red dot.

I have one on my shorty and it's the LINE version and yes it is thicker ... and to be honest I haven't shot it since installing the front site. I also have a XS front hooded site coming that is a dot ... should be interesting to test the two ... ;)

I heard that the bar sight is supposed to cover the width of a body at 300 yards. (could be wrong on the distance)

Now are the NM sights thinner? What is the reason for different widths on front sights?
