trius

They work very well and are probably the best hobby thrower if you are practicing alone. Mine throws singles and doubles easily and with pretty good distance and velocity. They are quite easy to adjust and the Trius stuff is very well built. It is much handier than attaching a pull string to your foot.

The only real down side is that because you compress the spring by stepping on it very small stature men and some women and children may have difficulty cocking it.

On the plus side, because it is under no spring pressure when you are loading the birds there is no chance of it accidentlaly releasing and sending your hand 50 yards down range.

I have one.

Upsides - pretty simple, not too hard to assemble, will throw a good distance, pretty good variability in terms of high or low birds

Downsides - tends to bounce around unless you attach it to a tire or something, no way to set it up so that you can be a fair distance from it when it throws, so you are aways shooting at a target moving away from you - never a crossing shot.

Mine will throw doubles using Lowry targets. Top Flight targets from wholesale just shatter into shrapnel when I try to throw doubles.

Generally a good purchase, fun toy. One day I might either buy a simpler one, or jury rig something so I can shoot at crossing birds

Trius trap

Couple good posts with pics in the skeet, trap, sporting clays forum regarding the one step trap and others.

I have the one step and works great. Easy to stap on the ATV with a box of clays and head into woods for some informal shooting.

We've been using the Trius one-step for two years now and it works great. I recommend putting it on a heavy tire so it doesnt move around. If you want to make it more challenging, disable the one-step so that you have to #### it manually. Then attatch 50' of rope to the release mechanism. Now you can set the trap up farther away from you and do crossing shots. Its too easy to hit 25 out of 25 when you're shooting the clay from right under your nose.

I know this is an old thread - beauty of the search function. Does anyone know where I can purchase a Trius one step in the GTA (Mississauga preferred)? I can order one from Cabelas in the US, but I would prefer to spend the money locally.
