Hi everyone, im quite new at the whole firearm scene. I have a siminov SKS in a Tapco stock. Also I have the Tapco magazine. It will not chamber a round through the magazine. The magazine clicks into place properly however the bullet points at the side below the chamber. Can u just shave of part of the magazine guide to center the round? Or has anyone else had this problem? Thanks

I wouldn't say that about ALL Tapco mags. I have done nothing to mine and it has worked flawlessly from day one on my SKS. But it definitely sounds like you got the short end of the stick on your magazine. If you alter it you may not be able to bring a case about refunding or whatnot if it still doesn't work after shaving.

I have an SKS with the the tapco stock/mags. Trouble is, there are so many years of so many different countries making these things, specifications range quite a bit. All of my mags worked out of the box, but needed dremmel work to be fed by stripper clips and even then, sometimes they don't feed into the mag properly... I would like to get the original box mag working with the tapco stock one day. The box mag is way better than anything else, but I also like the tapco stock with the gas tube rail. Anyway that is aside from the point.

It sounds like your issue is that it won't feed/chamber off the mag. This happened to me a couple times. Make sure you're inserting the tapco mag in properly... it needs to go in on an angle with the notch latching into the right place on the stock before you push it up to click it in. I made the mistake of not doing so once or twice and the mag wouldn't feed properly. Heck I think I even got the mag stuck in there once... Get some dummy rounds and you can play with it at home. It will probably work once you master inserting it correctly. If not, it is probably the notch part that needs work.

Good to hear.
Two of my three SKS' are shooter's but they are new rifles to me.
They both take Tapco 20/5 mags, but what really helped me was the use of 7.62x39 snap caps at home.
It helped identify any feeding issues and demonstrate proper mag positioning.
Both my Tapco mag needed filing to fit best.
First; to allow room for the bolt hold to drop when a full mag is loaded.
Second; to accommodate stripper clips.

Each rifle have their own mag. I don't interchange them, they stay on and I use clips.
