Hello All,
It seems I'm coming here again with issues. This time its pertaining to a mossberg 535 and replacement stocks. The original forestock that I had on this shot gun has broken twice in the same spot. After the second time I decided to buy an aftermarket stock to replace it instead of purchasing another one from mossberg. I bought a Houge overmoulded kit. The butstock installed without any issue. The forestock required a slide tube to be installed over the magazine tube. Apparently since 2006 mossberg has been manufacturing some of their guns without these in an effort to save cost. "Oh well" I said, I bought the 7 3/4" one. It fits. and it installed. The issue that I have is that it is as if now that it is installed, the action will not cycle all the way, it is as if it is 1/4" away. When comparing the old action bars to the new ones, there is a noticeable difference in their placement. Not much, but it is there. I did a little research online and came up with a few pictures. When installed, I can look into the action and see that there is no way that this slide tube/action bars will work without removing metal. Which I don't want to do, it shouldn't be this hard.
I mean I cant be the only one out there that has tried to install this slide tube on a Mossy 535. Do I need the 6 1/2" tube? Or would it even make a difference, I wouldn't think that the action bar groves would be different between the lengths.
I can post pictures this weekend, if that helps for anyone.
Any ideas?
