Troubleshooting a Mossberg 590s letting two shells out of magazine sometimes

Hello,

new to the forums and somewhat new to shooting, so please forgive the ignorance, if there's a proper forum for troubleshooting please let me know, I didn't see one right off that bat.

I have a Mossberg 590s, bought within the past year, it has the S&J +1 magazine extension added onto it's mag tube and I cut the spring that came with that down to the recommended ~4in past the magazine length when installing it.

I am finding that sometimes when I am cycling using 2 3/4 length shells, that after the spent shell is ejected (or when using the action release to load the first shell) that two shells are let out of the mag tube, jamming the gun until I tip to the side an let one fall out the ejection port and then can bring the forgrip forward for the elevator to bring up the remaining shell.

I have watched the cycling action from below using snap caps, and the movement happens very fast so it's hard to tell what is going on, but it seems like the cartridge interrupter is not getting in place in time in order to stop the second shell from getting past after the cartridge stop has been pushed aside to let the first one out. I may be way off base though, just speculation based on what is happening and also watching the online animation on how the 500/590 assembly works.

Does anyone have any experience with this or tips on troubleshooting this? I read elsewhere that it could be a weak spring, though i would imagine that would be opposite as the shells would be travelling slower than with a stronger spring pushing them forward, but i'm new at this so open to corrections.

I have a similar issue with a more recent purchase of an a1 model, what did was, I took out the shell stop bar and bent it more so it would interrupt the shell path, it’s doesn’t take much to over due it and may take a couple tries to get it right

I have the exact same problem with my mossberg 590A1... after reassembling from cleaning it racked fine then the racker started getting stuck when it was fully racked back.. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it and after further analysis Ive discovered that the issues lies entirely in the cartridge STOP (not the interrupter) - I tried bending it but I think I over bent it so it was letting all the rounds out.. bent it back and then it wouldn't extract a shell.. for a PDW this Is a massive liability... MASSIVE liability! I believe I need a brand new cartridge stop.. but the only place I can see them is Wolverine supplies for like $50 plus $30 shipping... any suggestions???
