I'm leaning heavily towards putting a FDE Troy MRF 7" hand guard on my Colt 6920 to free float the barrel. I'd rather go Keymod or M-Lok to be lighter and sleeker but I also don't feel like swapping out my FSP for a low pro gas block, removing the barrel, getting a front buis etc etc. The Troy seems like a quality, simple, relatively inexpensive way of free-floating my barrel. Any reason not to go this route or better suggestions? I'm all ears

You know that you'll have too cut the Delta ring off, yank the weld spring out and destroy the snap ring if you don't remove the barrel...

You know this right?

Yup, I know all that. That being said, I do have an armourer's wrench and a bench vise at home so I could just get the receiver vise block. They're pretty cheap. I was thinking more along the lines of are there better options that don't require a new gas block, front sight, etc...

I've used that exact rail on several of my builds. Tough as nails and I love 'em. However, if you don't want to make permanent alterations to your rifle, buy the Daniel Defense 7.0 Omega Rail. Totally drop in and free floating! A little pricey, but build quality is outstanding.
