Hey CGN,
Just wanted to share this information with the forum as I had trouble finding the answer online myself. I recently acquired a Troy PAR chambered in .223. I heard that the rifle can safely shoot 5.56 despite it being stamped .223 on the barrel so I called Troy and spoke with customer service who confirmed they stamp their barrels .223 for marketing purposes to make the firearms more state compliant. Apparently .223 is seen as a sporting round versus 5.56 is “black and scary”. Anyway they confirmed all Troy barrels are tested with 5.56 and can safely fire without safety concerns and the fact it’s stamped .223 is for importing purposes only.
Hope this will help someone wondering the same thing I was.
