Troy t22 shooting low really low

Hi everyone ,
I picked up a troy chassis about 4-5 months ago and built it up with a stock ruger barrel ( switching to a tac-sol when $ permit ) I took it out shooting the first time and it shot very very low , so home I went and ordered a sight tool from hical , then went shooting again and lowered the sight as much as the tool would allow , this helped a lot but it still shoots way low especially on longer shots 65-70 yards . The good news is it shoots pretty straight , the bad news is that on a longer shot I have to line up the front sight about halfway down the post that holds the sight ! Now I'm wondering if this chassis was designed with the tac-sol ( bull barrel ) in mind and will start shooting higher ( or normal ) when I put one on , as the bull barrel is a greater diameter maybe it sits higher in the chassis and will raise the impact point ? I don't know for sure I'm just spit Ballin, any one else run into this ? If so I'd love to hear what your solution or theory was to fix it , thanks much Aaron

is the barrel centered in the hand guard when looking at the front? or does it sit low?

It all looks pretty even I'd have to measure to be sure , all the bolts are tight and the receiver sits nicely in the chassis , I even took it apart a couple of times thinking it must have been something I did or didn't do . I am buying a scope for it , but it would be a shame to have those great troy " battle " sights not properly dialled in !

I had the exact same issue. Did you remove or file down the 10/22 rear sight? Take the troy appart and look at the upper portion, there should be some scratching where the rear sight would line up on the 10/22.

I dont even bother with them sites. I removed the rear on mine to accommodate an acog style scope with a shorter eye relief. And to tell you the truth, I think the whole set up would have been better without them built in. ;)

I'm starting to feel the same ! And that's too bad because the built in sights are kinda cool , I'm thinking I will remove the front screw in sight post and file it down as much as possible without wrecking it , or lower the whole arm piece with a second hole , but I'm going to wait and see what happens with the new barrel first ( tactical solutions )

See if 1: the barrel is canted downwards. Measure it. Make sure the chassis is not misaligned. If that checks out see if you have room to shim the front of the reciever up a little. A washer under the front of the reciever with the action screw going through it will work so long as you've got clearance above everything for it to move up. Also, you didn't crank the v block screws did you? An adjustable v block either aftermarket or home made could help.

Great advice ,I'm going to try the washer method and will break out the ruler and level just to see what's going on , I wanted to get a scope soon , but want to get these sights at least kinda close before I pay to have it bore sighted . No I haven't touched the v block , but I have a inch pound torque wrench , I'm going to have to look up the torque specks up , just to be sure . Thanks !

15-20 in. lbs is plenty. Overtightening will pull the barrel down. Don't pay to have it bore sighted lol. At 25 yds sighting in is quick and easy or grab a laser bore sighter. I use a Bushnell collet bore sighter that fits everything from .17 cal to 12 ga. and everything in between. Good investment IMO.
