TRS zeroing issues (NEA cowitness on 858)

just got one and with the screws turned to the max still leave the dot lower than the iron sights set to Under 100.

Is this me not knowing what I'm doing or could this be bad unit? - or maybe is this the best that can be expected (ie abandon all hope)?

Zero your rifle, then zero your optics. You can try using your -U- battle sight. I found this worked when I ran that set up. Good out to 300m.
