doing up a Black Laminate stock and trying to decide what sealer to use. not real picky on Matte (preffered) or glossy finnishes, as long as it's tough.
Thoughts? Anyone have any luck with a generic varathane? Have used Tru-oil with good results....

Tru-oil or Minwax Tung-oil will work fine, both have polymer added for a hard, clear, coat. I used tru-oil on mine. If you want it glossy, hit it with some wax when dry. If you want it satin, lightly buff with 0000 steel wool when dry.

Varathane is for the cheap, particle board furniture found in Zeller's and The Brick. Pure tung oil may be ok for laminates except that it soaks in about 1/4". A good quality varnish may be better.
