Whats the legalise on keeping a deer that has hit the front of your truck while driving home from a day of hunting. (Or on the way home from work, which happens alot to me). I assume if I have the proper tag it wouldnt be a big deal, but what if its the wrong species/gender. Any CO's wanna give me some advice. The poor critters already dead and I would hate to see good meat go to waste.

I heard from a few people that they are not issuing permits any more dew to some people getting sick eating either rotten bruised meat. just my 2 cents best case call the Co office in your area
Some times they won't let you have the animal in Alberta but give it to a family that needs the meat.We had a game supper in High River every year and they gave us half a deer for it also.Due to us raising money for a cause. One year I had to go to the MLA for Highwood to get him to talk to Fish and Wildlife because they had new people with attitude to get the meat.

Tag it is for sure good to go, and if it had hit my truck i know i coulda got it without a tag
I wouldent have just said ok to the tagging
I woulda said ok i tag it ...you pay for fixing my truck
Last friday the first of the 3 deer we took was killed by a 3/4 ton 4x4
He was still waiting on the tow truck(lost his rad)
I called it in and was told to go ahead and take it After tagging it
Was warned about the quality of the meat being poor, honestly we make them into sausages anyhow

Not no more they dont. They fed a poisioned animal to one in the park and it died or got sic. Dont remember.

No need for a tag here in Ontario. Just call it in to MNR HQ when they open in the morning (or I send a text or leave a voicemail with my local CO). I even tell them when I've had to finish off a wounded one. Got 3 off the road one year. A 6 point with a broken shoulder (shot him to finish him off), a doe stone dead at the end of my driveway, and a doe with a broken leg that I finished off with a shotgun. I called the MNR on each and every one of them with no issues.

Its not that I want to hunt with my truck, I just have deer run out in front of me about 15 times a year on my way to work or on weekends. I miss most of them but I have hit three in the last three years. Four if you include being the passenger in someone elses vehicle (nice sized Muley buck that time). Highway 3 in southwestern alberta is awful for deer collisions.
