Wondering what Trudeau/Liberal gun grab will look like?

I just roughly added up my restricted and it is pushing $30 grand hard, my cost basically. I can't see Mr. Trudeau writing me a cheque for my property he wants to take from me. I can't see me turning them over to the police for no $$. Maybe destroy them first, maybe remove all parts except bit with serial number, turn that in? Maybe move to the USA, not too hard I think. Maybe Trudeau is just trying to divert attention from his disaster NAFTA? Nothing burger, n beef there?

I think the gun grab is getting closer to reality. I just did $6,000 in new restricted purchases. I'm done on purchases. Up or down.

Thoughts?

I suspect that if Trudeau wins the next election ; then all restricted firearms will become prohibited . You will be able to keep them , but no more will be imported into Canada for sale , and no more restricted licenses will be issued . As a prohibited class firearm , no ATTs will be issued . This will appeal to the Liberal base , and will allow Trudeau to say that he is tough on gun crime . Alan Rock felt that only the police and military should have guns in Canada ; as do many other Liberals who control the party . Firearm owners are lucky that the CPC had the Long Gun Registry destroyed , or the Liberals would be going after all semi auto firearms .

I think you are correct when you think it might be a nothing burger.

That's 100% what it's looking like. All the problems and issues in this country it's pathetic this has cracked the top 10.

Ultimately, other than the RCMP , who love anything that gives them more power, money, and control (since they have a large bureaucracy with federal jurisdiction) I don't see a lot of support from other various law enforcement agencies, local mayors, police or municipalities for a gun ban. It just doesn't make sense and enough intelligent ppl know that. Heck even when the Turd himself talks about it he is very careful with his words.

I think they would like to do something though sure... I just see it ending up as a nothing burger , we need to keep the pressure up though and stay motivated... I guess its true there is no telling what the Libs will do with a second majority though.

That's grim

Hey while you are looking through your crystal ball, can you tell me the upcoming 649 winning numbers? Thanks.

Just keep whistlin' in the dark and flinging those 'tin foil' and 'crystal ball' lines.

Its a fact that self delusion absorbs over 3/4 of its own weight in reality.

Don't worry, Officer 'Friendly' pounding on your door will let you know when its time to wake up and face the real world. :)

Seems the latest is pressing the urban/rural divide issue in the media.... al la Australia farmers and rural people are the only ones I can see them wanting to leave with anything at the moment.....

Depends how much pitty support they get when they let loose there next test case to shoot up another street or school with supplied non listed firearms as a rationale for disarmament...... some people think that I think too dark but recent history says otherwise by example.

The Rural/Urban issue is curiously/ineptly ignored in all forms of firearms law when it really should be of primary focus.

Firearms law should be focused on the 5 W’s more than anything else.

The type/length/mag capacity/action type etc are entirely leas important than who has it, why they have it, what are they doing with it, where and why.
Hmmm.....SAME as pretty much ALL other law

From police action to sentencing it is NEVER about the device....its all about the 5 W
So you are caught drunk driving and speeding.
It is never focused on what you drank, what proof the booze was, how many cylinders the car had, was it a 6 speed or automatic......
It is the actuons of the individual.....not the devices.
Same goes for pre criminal activity.....
Because my V8 500hp car is being driven down the road I am not guilty of speeding/reckless driving....unless I am
Having Tequila in trunk of said car isnt a crime either....unless I get drunk and behind the wheel

Having a powerful computer isnt a crime....until I start committing fraud with it or hacking
Etc

So why is plinking on a rural property with a pistol a felony?
Why is the mere posession of it a felony in many cases?

Rural vs urban
Posessing/using a loaded firearm in a non malicious safe manner in a rural setting.....there is NO crime/hazard here
Doing so in a densely pipulated urban enviroment.....different story

Firearm law should be in lockstep with other law....focused on the actions/consequences of the individual....not irrationally focused on the device.
Absolutely amazing that otherwise intelligent learned rational people dont see this??
The hypocracy alone....much less the logic

I agree too, well said.. and regarding the bold portions; I've wondered the same for years. It's among the most absurd restriction on handguns there is, second only to the fact they can't be carried in the backcountry for wildlife protection. Realistically those two changes to the system would appease licensed owners to such a degree a person could say "Wow, there actually is someone writing policies who possesses some common sense & real logic out there... where have they been all these years."

When was the last we could ever say that(!?)

Sadly firearms legislation is an inept mess of emtio al k ee jerk political reactiin and posturing.

This woukd never stand in matters of finance/civil or other areas of law

Shame on the powers that be.

As long as you've kept your receipts for your guns, I'm sure Mr. Trudeau will compensate us fairly. After all, he seems to have a bottomless pit full of money.

Nothing has happened yet but keep those letters going out. On a down note, what's makes anyone think the government will provide compensation? We have no property rights in Canada.

whats this with people thinking 1)they will get a fair compensation and 2) ban is ok as long as they get compensated??? IF there is a ban I bet you either get grandfathered and get to keep what you have OR you don't get a penny!
