Truesight VS Edge

I have a trusight. I dont have an edge, so I cant compare them for you.
The sight on the trusight stays in place on the end of the barrel as the slide does its thing. It comes with a fiber optic site, and that combined with the front post not on the slide makes tracking your site easy.

You should speak with Sean @ Freedom Ventures- he is the Canadian distributor for STI- and an IPSC shooter. Also if you use the search function - I think there was a post a few months ago about the merits of the Truesight being an enhanced version of the Edge. Minimal price differential.

Thanks 92FS for the plug.

I'd call the trusight an advanced gun over the Edge - for three reasons.

1. Lighter - driving the gun from target to target is quicker (less mass = easier to start and stop) and less recriprocating mass (the slide) tends to have less felt recoil.

2. Sight on the barrel. It tracks easier since it is moving a lot less, lets you stay on target for the follow up shot.

3. Expansion chamber. With regular loads, it doesn't do a lot, but if you play with reloads in slower powders (like 4756 or HS-6), it actually does keep the gun flatter.

To the newer shooter, they're going to find the Edge easier to shoot. It's sheer mass in the slide and frame keep recoil down, and they don't notice the target to target movement being a little slower. To a more experienced shooter, the trusight will be better out of the box.

If I was taking one out of inventory, I'd be shooting a trusight now. (but my IPSC Commemorative is just too pretty)
You won't be disappointed with either gun.

you say the gun is lighter than the Edge... wouldnt that result in a harder recoil.... say using factory ammo...

convince me more to buy the truesight

Which ever of the two you are getting....the STI's are made for competition.....that basically mean, most of them are not safe queen, at least mine are getting lots of bang :) Freedoms is very good with warranty work if required, they have a gunsmith approved by STI for major warranty work.....and these pistols should last well above 75K on the first barrel ;) I own 5 STI at the moment......

how is the truesight for its durability?
does it have a recoil reduction system?
Durability is excellent. The same process, people, etc. builds them as the other guns on the line. I won't tell you about examples as they have only been on the market 6 months, but I have no doubt they have the same durability as the Edge. (Of which Len and Phoenix Range in Edmonton tells me he has an Edge with 300K rounds on it and only a firing pin replacement and springs so far...) Don't forget that STI offers a lifetime warranty on the guns.

While other companies build guns with 40K as the planned lifetime, that's only two - two and a half seasons of shooting with one of the guns from STI.

Trusights have the recoilmasters installed from the factory.

The gun is ligther than an Edge - and yes, the average person would find that the lighter gun recoils more than the heavier gun, once you toss in the sight tracking on the barrel and the little extra push that the expansion chamber does, the gun works about the same with factory ammo - you get back on target as quick. Then toss in a lighter gun for target to target and you've got something nice.
