Truing Stag 10 upper

Personally, I think it would be like putting lipstick on a pig. You had said that you already invested in a top notch barrel and trigger so messing with the receiver is moot. For the $$ and time that will need to be invested, why not play with the load as that will have better effect on what you are trying to achieve. In the end, the upper is just the toolbox to hold the trigger and the barrel which are the most important parts. No different than in a bolt gun.

Actually it makes perfect sense, making sure all surfaces are level would only ensure the barrel is straight when bolted down. It would be like not having the heads "decked" on your performance motor and than expecting them to mate perfectly to the block and hold pressure and not leak.

20-30 minutes is all it take, and $50-80 for the tool, 0.5-1.00 will make a difference for other guys, guess depends of your shooting discipline

The upper has absolutely no effect on accuracy. Oppĺther than having a good barrel with a proper crown the only surfaces that can possibly have an effect on accuracy are those of the bolt an the inside of the barrel extension. This is not a bolt action, there is no such thing as accurizing an upper no matter what anyone might try to get you to believeĺ. They took the time to put some hard coat anodizing on that aluminum, there's a reason for it. Doing any form of lapping or such is just giving your upper decades of wear in a few minutes. Don't do it.
