I was messing around with my oldest son's early type 56 SKS with blade bayonet and it shot 150gr .308 reasonably well at 75 yards last year so I thought I'd try some .311 /150gr .303 British bullets today.I was shooting at 50 yards off the bench and fired a 4 shot group clustered into one hole. The other random shots are from two other subsequent shooters. No reason not to use this load on deer..................Win brass/Fed LRP/Sierra .311-150gr .....Harold

For the 123-125gr this gun prefers 24gr Win 748.Usually 3" groups at 100 with that. The outdoor range was swarming with shooters today so never had time to try 100 yards with the SKS and 150's as I was playing with too many guns.My PH .303 Supreme cut 1.25" for 4 shots at 100 with the same 150gr bullet and 42 gr RE15.The 150 would provide more penetration than the 123gr I would think as well as FT lbs for black bear .We had one of our bait barrels emptied yesterday.Minus one 50lb beaver two lawn bags of popcorn and 50+lbs of fish guts...............My youngest son will be introducing him to the 6.5 later this week hopefully.........Harold

From Frank Barnes Cartridges of the World..........With the best handloads and the proper bullet it can do better. It can be loaded to good advantage with 150gr bullets and then becomes a very good 30-30 class deer rifle...........that's why...............Harold
