Trying to bring my CZ-858-2 back to life.

Hey guys, As some of you know, my CZ-858-2 crapped out on me recently. I figured out what was going wrong, but not what was causing it to not fire. When I pull the trigger, the sear does not drop enough to release the striker, and it trips the disconnector.

Now for the fun stuff. I got my replacement parts from Wolverine supplies. I got a wooden pistol grip and lower handguard, but the rest was particle board poop.

I disassembled my CZ completely, no moving parts left in the rifle. I was attempting to put the new trigger parts in, but they won't fit. I figured out why. It's because the new trigger group I got is for a yellow submarine. There's two sears on the trigger, and two springs on the spring plate thing. I confirmed this by looking at the old parts and realizing that CZ just cut off the yellow submarine components. So now I gotta get the dremel/die grinder and fix these parts so I don't get 20 years in jail. What a ####ing headache

Before you start doing something radical with a dremel, how about giving wolverine a call. I am sure they will do everything to get you up and running. They like most dealer that support CGN will make sure you are looked after. Give them a call. Cheers

Jeff

I Don't think that they are aware that the sears included are yellow submarine. On the cz 858, there is a stop that prevents the selector from being set on yellow submarine. On vz-58's I have heard that the selector is not blocked, so someone hypothetically turn theirs yellow submarine with one of these kits.

Save yourself from going to jail, Shouldn't you have kept this on a Downlow...
WHY Dont you tell every police you got a FA..

Not so. I got the full-auto parts with my kit too. There is a pocket on the CZ-858 by the ejector that has been welded up. This is the spot where a "boomerang" shaped lever goes. In FA on the millitary version, when the bolt carrier closes it depresses this lever. If the trigger is still pulled then the lever trips the sear and releases the striker. Thus, Full Auto. The parts from wolverine DO NOT include this lever assembly and WILL NOT make any CZ or VZ Full Auto. Even if the parts were there, these recivers are welded up so they can't be put in place. So to all of you who rushed out to buy parts kits, sorry guys, but did you think it would be THAT easy?

I ended up cutting mine like the original parts that were in it. I did this because the new parts wouldn't fit due to the welded block by the safety, and so if someone in law enforcement inspected it, they wouldn't see two sears.

I threw the new trigger parts in after cutting the yellow submarine stuff off, and now she fires again. It does however look like an abortion with a wooden pistol grip and lower handguard, with the regular wood chipped plastic stock and upper handguard. At least it works now. We will have to see how long this new fix lasts.

Do you really think someone in Law enforcement would even know what they are looking at? maybe one in 1000 and he isn't working in traffic.
cheers

Well. I had some cops gimme a hard time about my CZ and they did try to field strip it and look at the trigger group. I ended stripping it for them and showing them. many people didn't believe my story then, and many won't now, but I swear it's true.

I believe you. But I doubt there are too many cops that can look at a firearms inerds and say weither or not it is FA. I'd show them my Non-Restricted Reg certificate, pinned mags, hunting licence and then tell em to get bent.

Ljungman, as I recall, you had a trigger problem with your 858 as well. Was your trigger doing the same thing that mine was? also, I never got a wooden upper handguard with my 858 from wolverine, even though i ordered the wood kit for an extra 15$. I will phone them on monday and let them know.

Your 858 looks awesome with all wooden furniture. I would be nice to get a wood stock with it as well, but a folder will do.

I was thinking of stripping the paint off at work and parkerizing it, and then throwing on the wood furniture. That would look cool.

My problem was this: Sometimes when I was firing, the action would cycle, but the striker would fail to be held by the sear and hence follow the bolt. Thus, a round would be chambered but the rifle would not be "cocked". I never found out what part was doing it, when I got the parts kit I replaced EVERYTHING except the bolt. It works fine now though.

As for the wood, I didn't even order a wood stock kit as I didn't know you could get them. The grip and handguards were a surprise to me. I didn't even pay extra.:p

Ardent= Most of the time I am very polite. But tonight you have iritated me. GO F.U.C.K yourself. I am stating the facts. I received yellow sub, arine trigger + yellow submarine spring plate thingy.

The receiver on the 858 has a huge steel block welden on the INSIDE which does not allow for the installation of yellow submarine parts. I ended up modifying them like the original parts in my CZ were. If you don't believe me, well then sir, you are stupid.

How else would they make a select fire firearm non restrcited? they didn;'t install the yellow submarine parts!!! and they welded a huge block of steel into the receiver so no one else can make them yellow submarine either!!! is that so hard to understand?

Ljungman- when I fired mine, i would go to fire the second shot, but the trigger would kinda get stuck. I traced it to the sear not dropping enough to release the striker. I replaced the whole FCG, and now she works, I hope it doesn't crap out on me though.

PS- To everyone, including Ardent, sorry for my rude response to Ardent, but for him to blatantly call BS on my post pisses me off. I ain't no troll. I ain't a liar.
